WELCOME TO OUR NEW-LOOK WEBSITE! We hope you enjoy browsing. Unprepped fossils just restocked and NEW Fossil Preparation Services Section!
A small Xipheroceras beside a fragment of plant material. Nice and centrally placed in the nodule. The original split has taken off the outer row of spines, but they are all still attached to the counterpart. This would allow you to reattach the counterpart and then carefully prepare the ammonite to keep the spines. A section of the outer coil is missing opposite the aperture. This is almost certainly a bite mark from another predatory cephalopod.
Ammonite approx. 35mm. Nodule 9cm X 8cm.
★ ★ ★ Difficult. Recommended to use air pens and/or air abrasive where possible. Harder rocks and more complex fossils. More likely to be ‘sticky’.
